Mission Statement

Jewish Housing Association (JHA) provides resources and support for Jewish families in the Southeastern Michigan area with the goal of assisting families whose homes are threatened by the current economic crisis.

Safe, affordable housing is a basic human right and fundamental component of dignity, emotional well-being and family stability. The JHA program strives to support the family unit during crisis by offering financial and mortgage expertise to address the concerns of the family in a holistic way.

JHA assists with immediate housing relief for those Jewish families facing imminent loss of their home due to inability to pay housing or housing-related expenses.

JHA assists with short-term housing needs affecting the family as a result of circumstances including illness of family member(s), job loss, death of family member or any other unforeseen circumstance arising from the current economic crisis.

JHA may utilize government loan modification programs made available during the current economic crisis through its "Making Home Affordable Initiative".

JHA empowers and educates those who are willing to confront and resolve their overall financial issues for the long-term goal of housing affordability.

We honor and respect the dignity and well being of local Jewish families experiencing hardship and work to resolve issues with the family through mutual trust and compassionate communication.
